DE PERE, Wis. (WBAY) — May is National Foster Care Month. Saturday, a local group made what are called “sweet cases” for foster children in Green Bay. Volunteers and members of the Post-Adoption Resource Center packed 37 cases.
Each case is filled with blankets, a stuffed animal, coloring books, crayons and hygiene kits.
They will be given to a foster care center in Green Bay so when a foster child moves to another home they can bring their sweet case with them.
“The stuffed animal, the blanket. You know, these kids, a lot of times those things are left at their home, so they don’t have something like that or just something like that to give them, it is comforting. It’s something again that’s theirs to keep that they can take with them no matter where they are going,” said Heather Hansen, a program coordinator.
People donated money to buy the cases. The materials came from a non-profit organization in California.
