OSHKOSH, Wis. (WBAY) – A 23-year-old Oshkosh man was arrested on charges of attempted murder and sexual assault.

The woman was with the man in an apartment on the 1600-block of Oregon Street early Wednesday morning when she says he suddenly became aggressive.

After the assault she locked herself in another room in the apartment, then broke a glass window to get help from neighbors. Someone heard the window break and the cries for help, and notified police.

When police arrived, the man was gone. The woman was taken to a hospital to treat her injuries.

Almost three hours later, at about 6:15 a.m., police found the man at a home on the south side of Oshkosh.

In attention to the attempted first-degree homicide and first-degree sexual assault charges, police are seeking charges of substantial battery and false imprisonment.
