FOX VALLEY, Wis. (WBAY) –  Runners will fill the streets of the Fox Cities this weekend for the annual Community First Fox Cities Marathon.

Events kick off Friday, Sept. 16 and go through Sept. 18.

One of the most inspiring stories of the weekend is Terry Grapengieser. Terry underwent a heart transplant three years ago, and now he’s ready to take on the half marathon.

Terry’s advice:

“You see a lot of spectators. They’re probably thinking ‘Oh, I wish I could do that,'” Terry says. “Try it, see if you can do it. I never thought I’d get to this point, but I thought I’d give it a try. I know I’m going to do it now.”

The race weekend starts Friday with the Kids Fun Run at Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium in Grand Chute.

The 5K Run/Walk is Saturday. It starts and ends at Riverside Park in Neenah.

The half marathon and the full marathon are Sunday.

The full marathon starts in the city of Menasha at UW-Fox Valley and goes through Appleton, Kimberly, Combined Locks, the Town of Menasha, and Neenah. CLICK HERE for turn-by-turn directions.

A health an wellness expo will be held at UW-Fox Valley Friday and Saturday.

The full marathon and half marathon are Boston Marathon qualifiers.
