Suspects in rape, murder of New Mexico girl plead not guilty

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) All three suspects in the brutal rape and murder of 10-year-old Victoria Martens pleaded not guilty to all counts at an arraignment hearing Friday.

The three are facing more than a dozen counts for their involvement.

According to court documents, Michelle Martens, Victoria’s mother, Fabian Gonzales, her boyfriend and his cousin, Jessica Kelly, all face first degree murder charges along with a slew of other serious felonies. They include intentional abuse of a child resulting in death and rape of a child under 13. First degree murder is a capital felony, punishable by life in prison or life without parole.

Jessica Kelley has the most charges with 23. Gonzales is facing 20 and Michelle Martens faces 19.

The judge held Gonzales and Kelley’s bonds at $1 million cash only. Michelle Martens’ bond was set at $1.5 million cash only.
