DODGE COUNTY, Wis. (WBAY) – Authorities say a 3-year-old child was seriously hurt after a single-vehicle crash involving a drunk driver in Dodge County.

The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched at 2:46 p.m. Thursday to Town Road MM, west of Jefferson Road, in the township of Ashippun.

Deputies say the driver, a 32-year-old woman from Horicon, lost control of the vehicle and went into a ditch, hitting an embankment and utility pole.

The child was thrown out of the vehicle and airlifted to a nearby hospital. Police say the child’s injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.

The driver was not hurt. She was arrested and taken to the Dodge County Jail on recommended OWI charges.

The crash is under investigation.
