APPLETON, Wis. (WBAY) – Fall is here, and that means it is time for Appleton’s largest block party.
Octoberfest 2016 is Sept. 23 and 24 on College Avenue.
The celebration kicks off Friday at 6 p.m. with the License to Cruise classic car show. There will be about 400 classic cars, live music, and food.
One of the highlights of the show is the 1970 Plymouth Superbird. There are only 1,000 of these cars around, and there will be two of them at License to Cruise.
“To put two of them together is very, very rare, to find two at one show. And we have two here,” said Glen Hanisko, President, Fox Cities Modern Mopar Car Club.
The fleet of classic cars at the show has an estimated worth of $20 million.
On Saturday, music starts at 9 a.m. There will be a family fun area and arts and crafts for the family.
And it wouldn’t be an Octoberfest celebration without beer. Beer ticket sales are 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Saturday.
Appleton Police say drivers should avoid downtown Appleton during Octoberfest weekend. Following Friday’s License to Cruise event, College Avenue will be closed to traffic until 9 p.m. Saturday. Click here for a guide to road closures during Octoberfest.
