GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) –  Chelsea Clinton campaigned for her mother Hillary Clinton in downtown Green Bay Friday morning, and encouraged supporters to register and vote early and not wait for November.

The younger Clinton took questions and suggestions for the campaign from the supportive crowd at Backstage at the Meyer.

She said her mother wants America to invest more in the Indian Health Service — an issue that doesn’t come up much in the presidential campaign — will work to make education more affordable, and isn’t interested in taking guns away from law-abiding people but will do more to prevent gun violence. “My mom is not just a slogan,” she said.

Chelsea Clinton explained why she feels Republican nominee Donald Trump should not be in the Oval Office, especially after Trump warned he may bring up the infidelity of her father, former president Bill Clinton, in future debates.

“I have said and I believe it was his effort to distract from his inability to actually articulate specific concrete plans for what he wants to do,” she said.

Chelsea Clinton also said her mother will also focus on national security and a better economy.

“My mom is just gonna keep talking about what’s actually at stake in this election and what she’s actually gonna do as our next president,” she said.

Hillary Clinton has not campaigned in Wisconsin since before the state primary in April. The Trump campaign has criticized her for this.

“I mean my mom has done significantly more events over this campaign and has certainly been kinda to Wisconsin,” Chelsea Clinton said. “She’s been across the country. I mean, she’s in Florida today, so she can’t be in two places at once.”

Following the event, local Democratic Party officials led those in attendance to city hall to help them register to vote and vote early.

Chelsea Clinton said voters in Wisconsin should get used to seeing her and her family’s faces since they’ll be spending much more time in Wisconsin leading up to Election Day.

The Republican Party of Wisconsin released this statement after Chelsea Clinton’s campaign appearance:

Hillary Clinton is struggling to explain away her record of scandal and outright lies to the American people. The fact that she not only lied to the American people, but also endangered our national security, has forced her allies to come to a state they thought was a lock. Meanwhile, Donald Trump is making a compelling case for real change, and a new direction for working-class people across America, while the Clinton’s keep offering more of the same.”
