GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) – The city of Green Bay says it is extending a contract so that students at University of Wisconsin-Green Bay can use public transportation to vote early at the Clerk’s office.
Students will now be able to ride Green Bay Metro for free to vote at the Clerk’s office, 100 N. Jefferson St., until the first weekend of November. The UWGB student government will distribute transportation passes to students.
Earlier this month, Democratic and Republican students delivered a letter to city hall, asking for an early voting location on campus. The city says it met with student groups and took their concerns seriously.
This came after the April primary, when students at UWGB waited for three hours just to vote. The city clerk shut down the idea of early polling at UWGB this fall citing the lack of resources needed in a short period of time.
The Clerk’s office is open Mondays through Fridays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Voters may also mail in absentee ballots through Nov. 3.
