Children learn about fire safety in Green Bay

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) – Home Depot in Green Bay kicked off fire safety month by teaching kids about the basics.

The Green Bay Metro Fire and Police Departments were on hand Saturday teaching kids what their jobs are like and what to do in emergency situations.

Officials say most emergencies are survivable if families have a plan in place before it happens.

“Educating the public on fire safety and general safety, overall in today’s world, is paramount,” said Tim Smits, retired battalion chief with the Green Bay Metro Fire Department.

The group was expecting 500 people to attend.
