Green Bay, Wis. (WBAY) – The Green Bay Phoenix women’s basketball team officially began it’s 2016-17 season Monday. Green Bay has won 18 straight Horizon League Championship and went 28-5 last season with its season ending with a loss to Tennessee in the first round of the NCAA tournament.

Changes to last year’s roster include the transfer of guard Tesha Buck (New Mexico) and the graduation of senior guard Kaili Lukan and redshirt senior Ashley Luke, who was denied an additional year of play after she tore her ACL in an exhibition game last October. Green Bay adds four freshman to its roster: guards Caitlyn Hibner (Portage, Wis.), Meghan Pingel (Sun Prairie, Wis.) and forwards Karly Murphy (River Falls, Wis.) and Anna Dier (Algoma, Wis.).

The Phoenix roster is made up of all Wisconsinites. Green Bay’s season begins with exhibition games against UW-Oshkosh (Oct. 29) and Northern Michigan (Nov. 3).
