California man killed in Mishicot crash

MISHICOT, Wis. (WBAY) – A man from California is dead, another person hurt after a crash at an intersection in Mishicot Monday morning.

Police say a Chevy Cruze going north on S. State Street didn’t stop at the stop sign. A semi going east on W. Main Street struck the car on the driver’s side.

The driver of the Chevy died right away. He was identified Monday night as Irvin Hamilton, 59, from San Diego, by the Manitowoc County chief deputy coroner, who added that Hamilton was wearing a seat belt.

Hamilton’s passenger, who was also from out of state, was taken to a Green Bay hospital; we don’t know their condition or any more information about them.

The chief deputy coroner and police both said they don’t believe alcohol or drugs were involved in this crash.

The Wisconsin State Patrol is helping with the crash reconstruction.

The intersection was closed for more than six hours.
