FOX CROSSING, Wis. (WBAY) – Village of Fox Crossing Police are investigating vandalism at St. John’s Cemetery.

At some point over the weekend, several headstones, flowerpots and dozens of flowers were damaged at the cemetery on Old Midway Road.

Church officials say people who have loved ones buried in the cemetery have been stopping by to make sure their graves weren’t disturbed.

Groundskeepers have since cleaned up some of the mess, but church officials are disappointed someone would vandalize such a serene place.

“It’s sad, but kids will be kids, or whoever it was that did it, I’m sorry, and we’ll just have to pray to the Lord that it doesn’t happen to anyone else,” Steve Siegel, St. John the Baptist Church business manager, said. “Nobody got hurt, and there were a few damaged stones but nothing that can’t be repaired.”
