Fond du Lac district addresses threat concerns

FOND DU LAC, Wis. (WBAY) – The Fond du Lac School District says there is no threat to safety after concerns were raised about a possible threat to the high school.

A district spokesperson says the situation was investigated and students who made the statements were identified.

The district says these statements were made in the lunchroom “in the heat of anger.”

The situation was resolved yesterday and there is no threat to your safety or that of the high school.  Thank you all for your concern and bringing this to our attention as the safety of the high school is all of our responsibility.” – Fond du Lac School District statement.

During the investigation they also learned about a Snapchat message announcing “a revolution” would happen during lunch time.

Officials say one student who was involved is no longer in the school, and lunch room supervision is being addressed.

The district sent a letter to parents saying they can be assured that safety is the district’s top priority.

FULL STATEMENT:

Students, this morning we are hearing concerns among students that there is a threat that has been made against the school. Please know that your safety is always the most important factor in our daily work.  Yesterday, there were some statements made in the lunchroom in the heat of anger.  Those statements were immediately identified, the situation was thoroughly investigated by the administration and the School Resource Officers, and the students involved were immediately addressed.  The situation was resolved yesterday and there is no threat to your safety or that of the high school.  Thank you all for your concern and bringing this to our attention as the safety of the high school is all of our responsibility.
