Manitowoc Police Department Twitter account hacked

MANITOWOC, Wis. (WBAY) – The Manitowoc Police Department’s Twitter account was hacked Thursday afternoon.

Around 2:30, someone changed the name of the account to “F–k Da Police,” then “LOL,” then simply “Police.” They sent three tweets, including a reference to Harambe, the gorilla put down at the Cincinnati Zoo, and a shoutout to a high school student apparently in Texas.

Manitowoc Police say their IT department is working to resolve the problem.

The hacker also filled the description with a Twitter handle that led to a message saying they had a verified Twitter account for sale. The Manitowoc Police account, however, does not appear to be a verified account.
