SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — You may see a lot of people dressed up as creepy clowns this Halloween, despite pleas from police departments.

Clown costume sales have increased 300 percent compared to last year, according to costume chain Halloween Express.

This all comes after creepy clown threats have been made nationwide.

The threats all come via social media with acts of violence.

Authorities have deemed the threats a hoax, but are investigating all the cases reported.

In Concord on Wednesday, a creepy clown tried to take a 1-year-old out of her mother’s arms.

There have also been reports from nationwide of clowns trying to lure children into the woods and chasing people.
