MADISON, Wis. (AP) – Authorities are searching Lake Monona in southern Wisconsin for a missing boater.
The Dane County Sheriff’s Office says several people called Friday morning to report an unoccupied boat near the shoreline. Deputies found the empty boat and signs that an angler had been on board. Deputies also confirmed the boat was launched from a nearby landing on Thursday.
Authorities searched Friday without finding the missing boater and resumed the search Saturday. The sheriff’s office says the boat did not appear damaged and there was no sign that it was involved in a collision.
The family of the missing boater has been notified.
