ASHWAUBENON, Wis. (WBAY) – The Wisconsin State Patrol says a dump truck with its box fully extended ran into an overhead sign and then a bridge on Interstate 41.

The crash happened in the southbound lanes at the Hansen Road overpass Tuesday afternoon.

The Wisconsin State Patrol says the dump truck struck all eight of the bridge’s concrete beams before the box was torn from the body of the truck. The dump box fell across two lanes of traffic and the truck came to a stop across a third, blocking three lanes at the start of rush hour at 4 o’clock.

Southbound traffic was severely bottle-necked for more than two hours until the dump truck was removed and the bridge was thoroughly inspected.

No one was hurt.

The driver of the dump truck, a 60-year-old man from Princeton, wasn’t cited pending the investigation.
