APPLETON, Wis. (WBAY) – Area high school students got to see firsthand how bad choices can have serious consequences.
They witnessed a wreck and the effort to pull the victims from the wreckage.
The P.A.R.T.Y. at the P.A.C. is a reality-based program simulating what can happen when you’re not sober or paying attention behind the wheel. It’s put each year by the trauma center at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center-Neenah.
Students also heard from Cara Erickson, who killed a 17-year-old boy. She was convicted in 2001 of homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle.
“Everything in my life changed, and so I just try to get that message across in hopes that I can reach a student who may be thinking this won’t be happening to them,” Erickson said.
Organizers say PARTY at the PAC has reached 55,000 high school students in its 18 years.
