Young Phuture Phoenix get tour of campus

Fifth graders tour UW-Green Bay campus

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) – Thursday, 1,200 fifth-graders visited UW-Green Bay to get a taste of college life.

The Phuture Phoenix program partners with schools with a high percentage of kids from low-income families. The kids visit classrooms, residence halls, the library and other parts of campus to encourage them to graduate high school and further their education.

“We need these kids to know that to reach their dreams, even at a young age, they need to start thinking about what they want to do and start to focus a little bit on where they want to go,” Phuture Phoenix director Mary Sue Lavin said.

Students who attended will be eligible to apply for Phuture Phoenix scholarship awards at UWGB.

Another 450 students will visit campus on Friday.
