GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) – Former Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre was honored Sunday as a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
During the halftime ceremony of the Packers’ game against the Dallas Cowboys, Favre’s name was unveiled inside Lambeau Field, alongside other Packers members who are in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Favre also received his Pro Football Hall of Fame ring.
Favre, who was wearing his gold Hall of Fame jacket, thanked the fans while he was being honored.
“It’s always great to come back here,” he said. “I really mean it. I mean what a wonderful place. Never once did I think about what it would be like for my name to be up there.”
Packers Fan Rachana Sanghavi said she cried during the ceremony.
“I love Aaron Rodgers, but at the end of the day, Brett Favre has brought our team to where we are right now,” Sanghavi said.
Kevin Nett of Fond du Lac said Favre is the greatest quarterback ever, and the Packers got to honor him that way.
Michael Perna of Madison said Favre gave fans the best of times and the worst of times.
“He’s one of the greats, you know, he’s one of the greats,” said Packers fan Rakesh Shah. “So you got him. You got Reggie White. We got a few other players that are going to be up there soon. It’s going to be amazing.”
“I love Brett Favre,” said Packers fan Rajiv Shah. “When I came to America, number one guy. I come, you see [the] jersey. Best, best, number one.”
