Culver’s CEO dies

PRAIRIE DU SAC, Wis. (WBAY) – The CEO of Culver’s restaurants has died.

Phil Keiser died Saturday, two days before his 61st birthday. A source close to the company tells Action 2 News Keiser died of natural causes.

Craig Culver, one of the founders of the restaurant chain, will take over as CEO until a successor is hired.

Culver’s announced Keiser’s death on its Facebook page, saying:

For every restaurant you helped reach their best. For every team member you treated like family. For every farmer you championed tirelessly. And for every guest you made sure left happy. Thank you, Phil…for everything.

Culver’s, best-known for its frozen custard and Butter Burgers, is based in Prairie du Sac and has more than 500 restaurants in 22 states, according to its web site. In 2016 it was rated one of the Top 50 franchises by Franchise Business Review.
