GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) – Mayor Jim Schmitt laid out a 2017 budget at the Green Bay city council meeting Tuesday night.

The mayor is proposing a 1.9% tax increase.

Schmitt says that amounts to about $21 more per year per household.

He says the city hasn’t seen a tax increase in five years, and it’s necessary now based on the city’s current needs and departments “running down to the bones.”
