Ewell on trial for alleged role in Nance killing

FOND DU LAC, Wis. (WBAY) –  A jury trial started Monday for a Fond du Lac County woman accused of hiding her sister, who was convicted of shooting and killing her husband.

Tina Ewell is charged with hiding a corpse and harboring a felon.

Her sister, Eve Nance, was convicted earlier this year and sentenced in May to life in prison. Prosecutors say Nance admitted killing her husband Timothy because she believed he was having an affair. His body was found in a wooded area in Milwaukee on Thanksgiving, 2013.

The criminal complaint against Ewell says cell phone records and inconsistent statements tied her to the case. Her defense tried to get the charges dismissed earlier this year, claiming the prosecution’s complaint was defective.

Ewell’s trial continues Tuesday.
