FOX VALLEY, Wis. (WBAY) – Little Chute and Kaukauna are in the beginning stages of planning a boardwalk across the Fox River.

A public meeting will be held Tuesday, Oct. 25 from 5 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. at Little Chute Village Hall, 108 West Main St.

The current plan has the boardwalk starting near the existing Kaukauna trail system and ending near the Island Park trail in the Little Chute trail system.

Project manager Patrick Skalecki tells Action 2 News the meeting will also be about spending options. Little Chute and Kaukauna will eventually come together to decide how to fund the boardwalk. Grants are an option.

A feasibility study is underway. Project leaders are taking in ideas from city officials and people who live in the area.

Skalecki says there are a lot of moving parts to the boardwalk plan.

“We have residents around here that obviously have a vested interest and we want to be sensitive to their needs,” Skalecki said. “We have environmental considerations with the wildlife with the DNR, with the core, with Fox River Navigation System Authority operating the lock here and some of their partners.”
