Green Bay Police were also featured in a Sept. 24 episode of the long-running reality show.

Capt. Kevin Warych of the Green Bay Police Department said he received an email from a producer about filming in Green Bay. Chief Andrew Smith and Mayor Jim Schmitt gave it their blessing.

The department was given a chance to review the video and give refusal on footage they didn’t want on the show.

“We really use this as a recruiting tool,” Warych said. “What better way to recruit for the Green Bay Police Department on a national level, so that when somebody in New York sees COPS TV show one evening, and sees that the Green Bay Police Department was on the show, it’ll maybe spark some interest, and hopefully that’ll develop into an inquiry and maybe a potential candidate someday.”

This is the first time COPS has filmed in Wisconsin.
