GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) – A late Green Bay firefighter was honored on Friday.

Lt. Arnie Wolff was killed fighting a house fire 10 years ago. The youth soccer fields on Green Bay’s east side are named after him because of his involvement in the sport.

The youth soccer program approached the Green Bay Area Firefighters over the summer for help building a concession and bathroom building on the complex. On Friday, workers set a memorial brick in honor of Wolff.

“So, really, this whole complex is a perfect remembrance for the type of person he was and the things he valued in his life,” said Chad Bronkhorst, Green Bay Area Firefighters President.

The Green Bay Masons Union worked through their apprenticeship program with Northeast Wisconsin Technical College to do the work at little to no cost to taxpayers.
