Hundreds take part in ‘Spooky Sprint’ in Green Bay

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) – Residents across Brown County are getting into the Halloween spirit this weekend with the eighth annual “Spooky Sprint” in Green Bay.

Aurora Baycare puts on the event, which aims to promote healthy living and the importance of physical activity.

Runners took part in either a 1K, 5K or 10K, dressed in full costume.

This year, more than 1,000 people registered for the event. Organizers say it has become a favorite area tradition.

“Getting out, using your costume again, instead of just on Halloween,” said Nick Olsen, Aurora Baycare Sports Medicine. “I think it’s just the light-heartedness of it, and it’s really a family-friendly event. And we have a distance for everybody, which makes it easier.”

Event organizers say while it’s OK to enjoy your favorite Halloween candy this time of year, it’s also important to eat them in moderation and stay active.
