Shot fired into moving car in New London

NEW LONDON, Wis. (WBAY) – New London police arrested a 19-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder and other charges after a shot was fired from one car into another on Shawano Street Tuesday afternoon.

According to police, both cars were going north on Shawano St. near Highway 54 just before 12:30 when the passenger in one of the cars fired a shot through the open driver’s side window of the other car.

The driver of the other car wasn’t hurt. The bullet hit the passenger side of their car.

Police say the suspect, a New London man, was arrested after he returned to the scene and is being held in the Waupaca County Jail on a municipal warrant.

Police are asking the district attorney to consider attempted homicide, carrying a concealed weapon, recklessly endangering safety with a weapon, recklessly endangering safety and disorderly conduct.

Investigators aren’t releasing any more information at this time, such as a motive for the shooting.
