Salvation Army kicks off Red Kettle campaign

MENASHA, Wis. (WBAY) – That familiar sound of the season is back as the Salvation Army kicks off its annual Red Kettle Campaign in the Fox Cities.

The Salvation Army is holding a big kick-off event Friday at Festival Foods on Oneida St in Menasha from 5 a.m. – 6 p.m.

The event includes a red kettle bounce house, the largest red kettle in the state, and the “Turkey Trot” mascot. Horicon Bank is offering a $500 kettle match at the site.

The Salvation Army has expanded bell ringing hours this year. They’ll now go until 9 p.m. at several kettle locations.

Also, more one-hour shifts will be available for people who can’t do the two-hour shifts.

“To date over 13,211 bell ringing shifts are in need of volunteer ringers this year out of a total of 16,237 shifts,” says a statement from the Salvation Army- Fox Cities.

Volunteers can sign up to ring bells at or by calling (920) 955-1225.

Money collected during the Red Kettle Campaign goes toward Christmas dinners, clothing, and toys for families in need.

In 2015 more than $1.2 million dollars was raised during the Red Kettle Campaign.
