The holiday season is quickly approaching, and with it comes the familiar sound of ringing bells.
Friday the Salvation Army kicked off its annual red kettle campaign to raise money for those in need.
With more than 50 red kettles positioned across Northeast Wisconsin, organizers say they’re looking to fill more than 19,000 one- or two-hour bell-ringing shifts this season.
“When you think of Christmas, that’s one of the things you think about is bell ringing. You know everyone hears the bells and they’re like ‘oh, Christmas is coming!’ So you know it’s fun to get out there and ring the bell for a little bit,” Amanda Schmidt with the Salvation Army said.
Bell ringing continues until December 24. Sign up to ring bells at RingBells.org.
