Dave’s ‘Fast 5 Pack Facts’: Packers vs. Colts

As the Green Bay Packers (4-3) prepare to host the Indianapolis Colts (3-5), it’s time for Dave Schroeder’s ‘Fast 5 Pack Facts’ here on WBAY.com.

#1 No Such Luck: Colts quarterback Andrew Luck has been sacked a league-high 31 times this year. That’s nearly 4 sacks per game. Without Clay Matthews last week (he says he will play this week), the Packers managed only 2 sacks in Atlanta.

#2 4th quarter is key: The last time these 2 teams met in 2012, Luck led the Colts back from a 21-3 halftime deficit. It was the biggest blown lead in Packers franchise history. It was Luck’s first 4th-quarter comeback. Luck has only started 63 games, but already has 17 game-winning drives in the 4th quarter or overtime. Aaron Rodgers has 14 such drives in his much-longer career.

#3 Early gains: Green Bay has excelled in the first half of games this year, putting up 112 points before the half. Yet they have only scored 60 points in second halves this year. As you can tell from Fact #2, late-game production will be key as the Colts are accustomed to comebacks.

#4 Adams Catching On: Davante Adams is becoming a bona fide star in the NFL. His 25 catches in the last 2 weeks may not have come as downfield strikes, but Adams has become an integral part of Green Bay’s offense. His 5 TD catches are only 1 shy of the league lead (Jordy Nelson & others have 6). Adams’ stats may suffer as fellow receivers get healthy (Ty Montgomery will return this week while Randall Cobb is questionable). But the confidence he has gained in the last few weeks will carry over even when the catch count goes down.

#5 Questionable cornerbacks: Take that heading as you will. Sam Shields is still on IR, Damarious Randall out again, and Demetri Goodson unlikely to play after suffering a concussion and not practicing Wednesday or Thursday. Quinten Rollins may return from his groin injury, but the thin cornerback squadron looks to have its hands full against Colts receivers T.Y. Hilton, Donte Moncrief, and Phillip Dorsett. Ha Ha Clinton-Dix helped over the top a lot last week, and may need to do so again.

Prediction: Packers 38, Colts 34
