GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) – Northeast Wisconsin Technical College kicked off a week-long celebration of veterans.
To begin the week, the school held a flag-raising ceremony Monday morning.
“We do have a large population of students here on campus, and I think sometimes throughout the course of our academics we forget about them, we forget about the freedoms that they’ve blessed us with, and it gives us an opportunity to kind of bring the recognition and attention back to them and show out appreciation for what they’ve done for us,” Jeremy Galica, veterans advisor at NWTC, said.
Several events are planned throughout the week, including:
- Vietnam veterans display and presentation, Tuesday from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Commons
- Display from the Wisconsin Veterans Museum in Oshkosh, Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Commons
- Honor Flight veterans ceremony presentation, Wednesday from 1:30 to 3 p.m. in Lecture Hall SC132
- Operation Quick Start, which helps veterans and their families learn how to prepare for high-tech careers, with a free admissions test and assistance with military benefits, daily 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday
