GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) – Green Bay Police and the city’s bad boys and girls will be featured on the reality show COPS one final time.
The next episode airs at 7 p.m. Saturday on Spike TV. Check your local listings. The GBPD has appeared in three previous episodes.
The episode is titled “Manic Monday.” This is the description: “An escaped felon looks to Grandma for a safe haven. It’s a blast from the past when deputies pull out a security device from the ‘80s. Officers call animal control after worried neighbors refuse to give a dog back to its owners.”
The Green Bay Police Department got involved with the show after receiving an email from a producer about filming in Green Bay. Chief Andrew Smith and Mayor Jim Schmitt gave it their blessing.
The department was given a chance to review the video and give refusal on footage they didn’t want to be broadcast on the show.
“We really use this as a recruiting tool,” said Capt. Kevin Warych. “What better way to recruit for the Green Bay Police Department on a national level, so that when somebody in New York sees COPS TV show one evening, and sees that the Green Bay Police Department was on the show, it’ll maybe spark some interest, and hopefully that’ll develop into an inquiry and maybe a potential candidate someday.”
It’s the first time COPS filmed in Wisconsin.
