Memorial unveiled for late Green Bay Police Officer

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) – The Green Bay Police Department is remembering a well-respected officer from years ago.

City leaders were on hand Thursday for the unveiling of the Captain Harold Brisk Memorial at the park that also bears his name.

Brisk served the city for 25 years before his unexpected death in 1971. He was known for working with Green Bay’s youth and founded the department’s Explorer Club, which remains active today.

“He was a community police officer before there was an official program,” said Green Bay Police Capt. John Laux. “He was an officer that meant a lot to the citizens of Green Bay, enough that back in 1971 when he passed away, a year later they dedicated a park after him.”

Officials say the memorial that was unveiled was fundraised and donated by the Green Bay Police Department community officers at no cost to the city.
