Badges give baskets to families in need

Green Bay police badge patch

BROWN COUNTY, Wis. (WBAY) – Just in time for the holidays, Green Bay and De Pere police are launching a new initiative to help families in need.

Officers partnered with Feeding America, the Green Bay Area Public School District, Young Life, Black Lives United and the Boys & Girls Club to hand-deliver food baskets to families in the community.

Green Bay Police Chief Andrew Smith announced the “Badges Give Baskets” program Monday afternoon.

“This is one of those days that we get that as a police officer it really makes a difference in a police officer’s life and other people’s lives to be able to go out and do something that is truly nice for the community,” Chief Smith said.

Police thanked Feeding America for providing the food, Hobby Lobby for offering the baskets, and work by members of the police departments to put the baskets together.
