DE PERE, Wis. (WBAY) – The City of De Pere is asking residents to weigh in on pedestrian crosswalks on Broadway St.
A public meeting will be held Monday at 5 p.m. at City Hall, 335 S. Broadway.
City engineers will use the feedback to evaluate the possible need for crosswalks from Cass St to Randall St.
The reasons for the study: Neighborhood concerns and high traffic volume on the four lane arterial state highway.
De Pere is working with Ayres and Associates to conduct a study in this area, examining both existing crosswalks and vehicular traffic.
The city and engineers want to hear from residents and people who travel that area for ideas on what can be improved.
A few years ago, the city placed flags at problem intersections in the downtown area. Pedestrians could grab a flag and hold it while crossing the street. The idea was to make them more visible to drivers.
