GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) – Green Bay Police are reminding businesses to be extra cautious after six recent reports of “movie money” fraud.
In each incident, the victims accepted a fake $100 bill. It has happened at restaurants, gas stations, taverns, and to individuals.
Victims have lost more than $600.
Police say the fake bills look real from a distance, but they clearly have “for motion picture only” stamped on both sides.
Police are urging businesses to have their employees look closely at the bills they accept.
This isn’t the first time movie money has circulated in this area. In September, movie $100 bills were going around the Ashwaubenon area.
If you have any additional information on the phony movie money or believe you are a victim, call Green Bay Police at (920) 448-3200.
To remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at (920) 432-STOP.
