GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) – November 17 is World Pancreatic Cancer Day.
People wear purple this day to raise awareness about the deadly disease that kills more people than breast cancer in the United States. The Action 2 News This Morning team wore purple Thursday morning.
November is Pancreatic Cancer Awareness month in Wisconsin.
Pancreatic cancer is the second-leading cause of adult cancer death in the state. In 2016, 1,050 people will be diagnosed in Wisconsin and 840 will pass away.
Risk factors include family history; diet; pancreatitis; smoking; and obesity.
Symptoms include abdominal pain; loss of appetite; jaundice; weight loss; nausea; change in stool; and recent onset diabetes.
