Something Special from Wisconsin: wine and cheese for the holidays

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) – Are you looking for that perfect holiday gift that says “Wisconsin”?

Alice in Dairyland, Wisconsin’s agriculture ambassador, is showing us the line-up of Something Special from Wisconsin items. The items are produced, processed or made with at least 50 percent Wisconsin ingredients, so you know they’re good!

Let’s start with something to drink from Door County’s first winery, the Door Peninsula Winery in Sturgeon Bay.

They produce a beverage just for the holidays called the Mulled Christmas wine. It has nutmeg and cinnamon mixed in, so it’s best served warm for those cold winter days.

Door Peninsula Winery also offers a red Christmas wine using locally grown cherries.

They’re also offering free shipping on a case of wine through Jan. 1.

You can’t go wrong with some award-winning, hand-crafted artisan cheese from the Saxon Creamery in Cleveland in Manitowoc County.

It’s made from fresh milk each morning from pasture-raised cows. The milk goes in the cheese vat within an hour of its arrival.

You can choose from butterkase, gouda, a cheddar spread, and many others.
