NORTHEAST WISCONSIN, Wis. (WBAY) – Championship fever is alive in Northeast Wisconsin as fans cheer on the Kimberly Papermakers and Notre Dame Tritons at the WIAA Football State Championships at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison.
The Kimberly Papermakers look to continue their dominance in Division 1. They’ve won four consecutive state titles. They’ve been literally unbeatable with four straight undefeated seasons.
The senior class has never seen their team lose.
The Papermakers take on Franklin at 4 p.m.
The fan bus rolls out for Madison at 12:45 p.m.
Meanwhile, Notre Dame is trying to get their own streak going in Division 3. The Tritons are the defending champs after defeating Catholic Memorial last year.
Friday will see a rematch of last year’s championship game.
The Tritons take on Catholic Memorial at 10 a.m.
A bus of fans will be leaving Green Bay for Camp Randall early Friday morning.
On Thursday, the school held an assembly with the pep band to give the team a send off.
It’s the culmination of a week of celebrations for the team.
“With the pep assemblies and on the announcements, everyone’s been really positive talking about them and in classes. It’s been really positive. Everyone’s really excited,” says senior Eleanor Sladek.
We will have complete coverage from Madison tonight on Action 2 Sports.
