OSHKOSH, Wis. (WBAY) – Wisconsin Public Service crews are working to restore power to about 1,000 customers.

The utility blames Friday afternoon’s power outages on gusty winds, although crews are making sure there are no other reasons.

Outages were reported in Green Bay, Kiel, Valders, Waupaca and Wausaukee. More than 3,000 people in Winnebago County — nearly all of them were in Oshkosh — also lost power.

Power has since been restored to most customers in Northeast Wisconsin.

WPS is aware of downed wires and is asking people to stay away because they can still be energized. Report downed lines and power outages to your utility.
