Power restored in Kiel after city-wide outage

KIEL, Wis. (WBAY) – Power has been restored in Kiel after a city-wide outage on Saturday morning.

Power was being restored in phases. Most residents on the west side of the city had their power back by 10:30 a.m.

The power went out around 6:30 a.m.

Police said the problem was a relay, or a switch that opens and closes circuits, that went out at a substation.

The Kiel City Hall, 621 6th St., opened as a warming shelter for anyone who needed it.

Police said they were swamped with calls and were asking residents to only call them for emergencies.
