APPLETON, Wis. (WBAY) – Appleton Police say a man abducted a 17-year-old girl from a parking lot Sunday night.

The 19-year-old Appleton resident is being held at the Outagamie County Jail on potential charges of Kidnapping, Stalking, and False Imprisonment.

Police say they met with the victim on Monday. She told an investigators that she knew the suspect and he had been making unwanted advances toward her and they had “intensified” in recent days.

The girl told police she was leaving her work on W. Northland Avenue on Sunday night when the suspect forced her into a van and tried to handcuff her.

The victim told police she tried to escape while the suspect drove to his family’s home on N. Birchwood Avenue.

The van pulled into the garage and one of the suspect’s family member heard the victim’s cries. The family member intervened and was able to get the victim back to her vehicle. The victim said the suspect’s family member asked her not to report it to the police.

When the victim told her family what happened, they decided to call Appleton Police.

Police say the suspect was interviewed by police and admitted to stalking the girl by watching her activities. He also admitted to an investigator that he planned to keep her with him after the abduction.

The suspect’s initial court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 23.
