One in custody after shooting on Green Bay’s east side

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) – Green Bay Police are investigating a shooting in the 1600 block of Deckner Ave.

Police Chief Andrew Smith says one person is in custody. The chief says no one was hurt and there’s no immediate danger to the community.

Green Bay Police tell Action 2 News a woman said a man she knows shot at her while she was in a vehicle.

The suspect, a man in his 20s, was taken into custody. Police are still searching for the weapon.

“We’re not sure what their relationship to the whole business is. We’re going to have our detectives sort it out for a little while, and then we’ll get to the bottom of it and hold the person responsible, whoever did the shooting,” Police Chief Andrew Smith said.

Officers were called at about 10:15 a.m. The SWAT team also responded.

Sullivan, Danz, and Preble schools were on lock down briefly. The district says students were free to leave campus for lunch or work commitments.
