GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) – As is tradition on Thanksgiving, the Lambeau Field Atrium transformed into a massive dining room for nearly 1,000 people on Thursday.
For the 14th year, the Christian Outreach Ecumenical Thanksgiving Dinner was held over the lunch hour.
Nine-hundred people were served on-site, and officials say another 1,200 meals were delivered in the community. Dinner was free, but reservations were required.
“It just melts your heart,” said Jessica Zeitler, president of the Christian Outreach Ecumenical Thanksgiving Ministry. “They seem happy to receive this awesome meal. I enjoy the part as well. Sharing it with my daughter…she’s been doing it for a few years now. She’s in college and has been helping me out. So it’s neat to see also the other families where the kids were little ones that helped hand out candy canes, and now they’re serving meals to everybody. So it’s our Thanksgiving family that we call everybody on today’s day.”
It took about 400 volunteers to prepare and pull off the dinner.
