SHAWANO, Wis. (WBAY) – Authorities say they don’t believe any personal information was compromised after two credit card skimming devices were found at a bank and credit union in Shawano.

The Shawano County Sheriff’s Office says the devices were found Friday morning at Premier Community Bank, 1273 S. Main St., and CoVantage Credit Union, 604 S. Main St.
The Shawano Police Department said two suspicious men were seen close to the ATM’s Friday morning before the businesses opened. They left the area, and the skimmers were later found.
Premier Community Bank says the illegal device was placed around 6:30 a.m. Friday and removed before 8 a.m. Friday. Video surveillance showed no customers used the ATM during that time frame, but the bank is still looking into whether anyone’s information was compromised.
Deputies are checking locations across the county to see if they find more skimmers. They’re encouraging business owners to check their ATM’s and gas pumps.
The Shawano Police Department says it is working with the financial institutions to safeguard their customers.
This comes after two skimming devices were recently found at a couple of gas stations in Green Bay. The suspects were arrested. Police were investigating whether the two men installed more than the two devices they found.
A number of skimming devices have also been found at gas station pumps in the Madison area. Two other men were arrested.
Skimming devices are used to steal personal information from credit cards. To prevent your information from being stolen, authorities suggest you pay inside or choose pumps closer to the station.
