GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) – Holiday and patriotic spirit were both on full display in Lambeau Field’s parking lot Tuesday morning.
Volunteers collected, prepared and loaded hundreds of donated Christmas trees onto FedEx freight trucks to be delivered to U.S. service members and military families here and abroad.
The trees come from growers from across the state.
“We’re so thankful for the veterans and the men overseas and the women overseas and at home that are protecting us and giving us our freedoms,” Paul Schroeder, coordinator for the Green Bay area, said.
This is the 12th consecutive year for the Trees for Troops program in the Green Bay area.
Nationwide, an average 18,000 trees are collected and delivered each year.
