Police reward boy who rescued friend from drowning

GRAND CHUTE, Wis. (WBAY) – The Grand Chute Police Department honored a young hero for saving his friend’s life.

Southern Door Elementary School student Jeremiah Binns received the Citizen Gallantry Award on Wednesday.

Jeremiah was swimming with friends at a local hotel last August when one of his friends went under. Right away Jeremiah pulled him from the water and started CPR.

Police say thanks to Jeremiah’s actions his friend made a full recovery.
