DALE, Wis. (WBAY) – A passenger was killed in a head-on crash on Highway 96 that closed the highway in both directions Friday evening.

The Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office tells us two SUVs collided near Industrial Drive in the Town of Dale just before 5 p.m.

We’re told a westbound SUV driven by a man from Manawa crossed the center line and hit an eastbound SUV driven by a woman from the Hortonville area.

A Greenville man riding in the eastbound SUV was pronounced dead at the hospital. The driver of that SUV and another passenger suffered serious injuries.

The Manawa man whose SUV deputies say caused the crash wasn’t hurt. He had a passenger who was taken to a hospital and is expected to survive.

The names of those involved aren’t being made public until relatives of the Greenville man can be notified.

The sheriff’s office is investigating the crash but they don’t believe alcohol was a factor.
